Technology at C.V.P.S
All classes at Colo Vale Public have access to interactive whiteboards, class computers and two computer labs. The Computer Coordinator is Mr Stanger.
All 10 classes, Library and Staff Room have interactive whiteboards as well as the new computer lab. The school Hall is also equipped with a computer and screen for displaying various items from students and the community.
IWB's (Interactive Whiteboards) What can interactive whiteboards do?
These are large touch computer screens that replace the traditional chalkboard and behave like your own computer. They provide access directly to the Internet and have many multimedia resources. This means sound, music, vodcasts, video and interactive lessons are part of the 'chalkboard'.
Technology usage at C.V.P.S
At Colo Vale we are very lucky to have two computer labs that are available. Computers are also in every classroom as well as students having access to laptops.
The Staff at Colo Vale Public have had a lot of professional development using technology. Last year the school moved to a new school reporting system that allows teachers to report on all aspects of the student from school and home. This information is directly linked to the student allowing for teachers to track student progress. Additionally, using the same software, teachers now mark their class rolls on-line using their classroom interactive whiteboards and track student welfare issues. These are just a few of the state of the art technological adjustments that Colo Vale Public has made recently, and there are more to come!
While this professional development is continually ongoing and teachers knowledge and skills continually being extended, the daily integration of technology in classes throughout the school is excellent.

What is BYOD?
Bring Your Own Device, or BYOD, is a technological trend in education and in the corporate world. BYOD recognises that technology and choices about technology are very much personal. BYOD acknowledges technology in education means more than meeting specific curriculum requirements. BYOD is designed to give you, as students and families, freedom to make technology choices that suit you and all your circumstances.
