Mathematics
The five broad strands of Mathematics are:
- Working Mathematically
- Number
- Patterns and Algebra
- Measurement and Data
- Space and Geometry
National School Partnerships with a focus on Numeracy.
The school has a K-6 focus on Maths. This is supported with a significant commonwealth grant. Parents are encouraged to support their child's learning. The school is implementing Taking Off With Numeracy Program for students 3-6.
This hands on program is designed to move student learning along a continuum of understandings. It is sequential and enables students to build on previous understandings.
Extra teaching support for students is also in place.
Mathletics- Sponsored by the Colo Vale P&C 2010
Mathletics is a computer and internet based Maths program for all students K-6. This means that students can work at their own pace both at school and at home. Each child has a user name and password to log in.
They have the opportunity to compete with students from all over the world.This program is used in conjunction with the class program.
